The University of Texas at Arlington is the second largest institution of the University of Texas System. The university has a current enrollment of 32,956 students as of Fall 2010. These educational institutions actually house some of the oldest buildings in the greater Forth Worth area. The University no longer has a football program, but it does host high school sports on the football field.

Many people move to Arlington for their education, for example the city is host of University of Texas at Arlington, which hosts over 30,000 graduates and undergraduates. Arlington has a humid subtropical climate, temperatures rise well over 100 °F (38 °C) at times and heat-humidity indexes soaring to as high as 117 °F (47 °C). Winters in Arlington are generally mild with a high of 63 °F and a low of 36 °F would thus be a very typical one during the winter. Snow accumulation is usually seen in the city at least once every winter, and snowfall generally occurs 2–3 days out of the year for an annual average of 2.5 inches. Spring and autumn are pleasant. Bright wildflowers bloom in spring and are planted around the highways throughout Texas. Arlington is also generally agreeable from late September to early December and on many winter days, but unlike in the springtime, major storms rarely form in the area.
